The Cayman Islands is an overseas department of Great Britain located in the western Caribbean between the two continents of South and North America. At the beginning of the 19th century, the local population was 933 people, most of whom were slaves; in 1835, slavery was officially abolished. The proceeds from sales are used to research the life of these rare animals and to protect them.
