A wonderful place to relax from the bustle of the city, from cars and the eternal screams of disgruntled people. A vacation that every person dreams of, at least once in a lifetime. Here is clean air, nature reveals its charms in front of you and this makes you want to live even more. This place is called - Nahal Judea - translated from Hebrew the Brook of Judea.
An indispensable assistant for tourists not only in Israel is the online car booking service. The average cost of renting a car in Tel Aviv will be about 33 euros per day, and in Eilat - from 27 euros per day.
People organize hiking trips in nature, want to see something interesting. Nahal Judea is perfect for these purposes, Ramat-a-Golan is a picturesque gorge in the mountains along the banks of the Judea River. Before starting the hike, you need to go to the administrative building at the entrance, where they will explain to you what routes are offered in this place and give you a map. And go ahead boldly. Crossing the road, you will have a view of the ruins of a Syrian village, it was built during the Roman period. Now from it only the collapsed houses and their structures remained after the six-day war. After the village you will come to the cliff, and this is where it all begins!
A landscape opens up overlooking a green canyon with the picturesque Judea waterfall, which falls from a height of 20 meters, forming a natural pool. In this pool, the water is icy all year round, regardless of the weather, but you can swim, there is crystal clear water, which invigorates and gives strength to continue the route.
To get to the source, you have to overcome the winding steep road down, which is pleasant for its natural environment of trees with figs and wild edible berries: raspberries and mulberries.
After the pool, the road becomes even more interesting, moving all the time along the flowing stream of Judea, meandering between trees and thickets. And also on the way there will be obstacles that literally have to jump, for example, from one boulder to another, otherwise you will have to go around the boulder in icy water, dropping knee-deep.
Throughout the route, you will be accompanied on the sides by basalt rocks (basalt is a rock, rocks from this rock are inclined at 90 degrees and they are smooth).
Attention! The most interesting part of the route! Further, another natural pool awaits, which is located 9 meters below the level where you are. It is possible to go down into it along the metal ledges and swim to the shore, or, if someone is brave, they can jump from their place and also swim. But it is necessary to swim across the pool, there is no other way.
By the pool, you can rest and eat on the smooth and warm stones. And further on the way. After walking some more time, it will be possible to climb the path upward, which returns you to the starting point of the route, or continue for another two kilometers and get to the three natural pools "Meshushim", which in Hebrew means “Hebrew Pools”. These reservoirs are formed from the springs that come from the streams of Judea and Zavitan.
In these pools you can swim and have a snack on the shore. And from here the path will only be to return to the starting point. You will have to walk back 1-2 kilometers, and then, turning left, you need to climb the path up to the camp, which is located at the beginning of the route.
We warn you:
1) Take comfortable, closed shoes so as not to knock your toes, and it was comfortable to walk on rocky terrain.
2) Take with you only drinking water and a couple of sandwiches, so as not to drag too much and go light.
3) Don't forget: Panama hat, sunglasses. Take waterproof bags, you will need them when you have to swim through one of the natural pools.
4) Return earlier than the reserve is closed, otherwise the search will begin and the situation will take an unpleasant turn.
5) To avoid getting your clothes wet, we recommend bringing along large garbage bags with a tie. Before jumping into the water, put all things there: shoes, backpacks. Throw things and jump yourself.
6) If you are unsure of swimming, you can take an inflatable ring with you.
7) If you doubt your abilities: you do not know how to swim or are afraid of heights, then it is better to refuse this route.
Get the most out of the Nahal Judea route. Have a nice trip!
